Spring Skincare Tips You Should Consider 

Spring is the time for new beginnings. From the sounds of the birds in the garden to flowers blooming, even your skin can benefit from a new start in the same way! After months of alternating between hot, dry indoor air and the harsh cold outside, your skin will definitely be ready for a shift in seasonal routine.

Exfoliating Your Skin

The first step you should consider on the path to glowing skin starts with exfoliating. Over the winter months, it becomes harder for your body to get rid of dead skin by itself. The best way to exfoliate and help your skin out is with a nice warm bath. (Plus, there’s nothing better after a long day!)

While you’re having a soak, give yourself a strong yet gentle scrub all over. Don’t forget to focus on spots that are prone to rough patches such as your knees, elbows, feet, back and hands.

Staying hydrated is essential and does wonders for your body. The more water you drink, the easier it will be to keep your skin from getting dry and flakey! 

It helps keep you refreshed and maintains skin elasticity (reducing the risk of wrinkles)! So if you’re looking to reduce signs of ageing, this is a must. Drinking ample amounts each day will ensure you maintain a healthy glow and flush out all of the nasty toxins. 

This will also help unclog your pores – reducing pimples and acne as well as being one of the best solutions for dry skin. There really isn’t anything better than keeping hydrated. Your skin will thank you for it and you’ll feel great too!

Use Sun cream… Even if it’s Cloudy!

Sun cream shouldn’t just be reserved for beach days and holidays in the sun. Even on overcast days, harmful UV rays can attack your skin, leading to irreversible damage and faster ageing.

Get Your 5-A-Day! 

We have already mentioned the importance of hydration for clear and healthy skin. However, another way to get more water into your body is by snacking on your 5 a day. 

Fruits and veggies are packed with the water your system needs. We know there are plenty more yummy treats you’d probably prefer, but fruit and vegetables are often full of vitamins and nutrients which are good for your skin and your bodies’ health as a whole. 

Great options for healthy skin often include lettuce, broccoli, grapefruit, carrots, apples and watermelon. In addition, studies have shown that citrus fruits are especially helpful for skin health. They contain lots of antioxidants that help protect your skin and keep you looking glowing!

Moisturise! 

We are all guilty of using a heavy amount of thick moisturiser in the winter months. It might make you feel better for a while, but these same products can leave a greasy layer on your skin as the days get warmer. As part of your skincare routine this spring, choose a lighter moisturiser that will keep your skin healthy and hydrated without weighing it down.

Another one of our top spring skincare tips is to work out! We know that especially if you work long hours, the last thing you may want to do when you get home is go to a gym. However, exercise increases blood flow, which helps maintain supple, glowing skin. 

You don’t necessarily need to go to a gym either. Come spring the weather should (hopefully) be a little warmer and if so you could try a peaceful walk with the dog or even some outdoor yoga, depending on what you fancy!

Not only will it impact your skin, but you will see indirect benefits too. Exercise will help you get a night of better sleep and lower stress levels which can both lead to healthier skin. Your body will have more time to recover and you’ll notice fewer wrinkles and marks, especially around your face.
