Yoga Instructor and Studio Manager

Yoga Instructor and Studio Manager

Melanie has been passionately connected to yoga since 2004 and believes it to be a remedy or cure for almost any mental, emotional or physical ailment. She finds the nature of yoga practice with its balance of opening and strengthening the body, synchronised with meditation and pranayama (breath control) to have a profound impact on any practitioner, ongoing beyond the mat and into daily life.

Her style of teaching is fresh, warm, creative, inclusive and fun. With a belief that it’s important for people to begin to understand how their bodies work (in turn increasing body awareness), Melanie includes simple information on anatomy during her class. She entwines this more modern approach with authenticity by using Sanskrit terminology, a variety of Pranayama techniques, and some yogic philosophy, including observation of the chakras (energy wheels).

Melanie’s intention is to create a welcoming and challenging environment that inspires students to develop their passion for yoga and build on personal strength and flexibility. The class is taught alongside carefully chosen instrumental music, providing an atmospheric setting with the intention of aiding a deeper connection to the practice. Leave feeling relaxed, revived, clear, and with a renewed sense of self.

Melanie graduated with a Distinction from the British School of Yoga in 2014 and is a member of the IYN (Independent Yoga Network). She continues to attend regular workshops both in and around the UK and online to keep inspired and informed. She is influenced by a variety of globally recognised teachers including Annie Carpenter, Kathryn Budig, Taylor Harkness, Ray Long, Chelsea Korus and Tiffany Cruikshank, but still enjoys reading the more traditional origins of yoga such as the great BKS Iyengar.
