Tell us About Your Life Outside MAW?
My life outside of MAW is all about my Children. I have two amazing daughters who are passionate about Irish dancing, so my weekends off are spent driving them to various competitions. We love exploring too so Sunday’s are spent visiting national trust parks and going for bike rides. We’ll often visit family after and love having a big roast dinner together.
What’s your Job Title at Mary Ann Weeks Aveda?
Aveda Beauty Therapist & Ultimate Lash Artist
Describe in a Few Words What You Do and What’s Your Speciality?
I entered the Beauty Industry 18 years ago with a strong interest in skincare and my passion has always been to help women achieve their skin care goals and feel beautiful. I love to talk about Nutrition, beauty trends and well-being with my clients and make a healthy lifestyle and looking your best accessible. I know first hand what it’s like being a working Mother in the fast past pace world we live in! Balancing our lifestyles is an art and it’s extremely important for us to for us to prioritise time for self care for ourselves, so we’re still able to multitask and live our passions to our best ability.
For the past 4 years I’ve had a strong interest in Lash extensions. My favourite part of being a Lash artist is enhancing women’s natural beauty. I just love the way they transform your eyes and whole face! Skincare and makeup go hand in hand and Lash extensions give my clients a super power. They feel confident, beautiful and wake up feeling like a better version of themselves.
How Long Have You Worked With Us?
This will be my fourth year at the Mary Ann Weeks Aveda Walton Spa. The team are fantastic and it’s great to be working in my home town. I have worked many years in London previous to this and it’s nice to finally settle in a Salon and spa that feels like home.
What are Your Favourite Things About Working With Aveda?
For me the ethos of the company is the back bone for my passion at Aveda. Caring for the world we live in and treating ourselves, each other and our planet with respect. The art and science behind our naturally derived products makes them the very best, with a genuine consideration for the environment and sustainability. I know I’m not alone in being very proud to work for Aveda.
Also, the great relationships I have with my clients and the staff here is what makes my job not feel like work at all.
What’s Your Best Memory of Working Here?
I can’t think of any precise moment as there’s been a few, but probably when all the staff are gathered around and we are having a joke and a laugh. There’s lots of banter going on in the salon daily and the clients join in on that vibe too.
What’s Your ‘Go To’ Aveda Product and Why?
Oh wow, where do I start ha ha! I obviously love to have clear fresh skin for work and Aveda products never let me down! Well for Skin care it’s got to be the Aveda Botanical Kinetics cleansing gel and exfoliant for my face. They are great for me as I can quickly wash my face with the gel and wipe over after with the exfoliant which really cuts through the bacteria and makes my skin feel fresh and glowing. I want to age gracefully and I love the Botanial Kinetics Clay Face Mask for really drawing out impurities deeper down.
For Hair it would be a big bottle of Cherry Almond Shampoo and conditioner. It smells divine and lasts for ages – great quality products mean you don’t need much! We have it in the bathroom with a pump for family usage, the girls just love the aroma and their hair is so super soft afterwards.
If You Could Nominate Anyone at MAW Aveda for an Award for Something, What Would the Award Be and Who For?
It would have to be be Aaron Knetchl our youngest hairdresser in Walton (but he also works at Guildford too). He is so passionate about Aveda and willing to help anyone and everyone. He is your go to person when you want to know about Aveda hair products. There are a lot of Aveda shampoos so sometimes it’s good to consult! We both started at the same time on our Aveda journey and have worked in both salons in Walton and Guildford
What Do You Use On Your Own Hair/Skin?
Cherry Almond of course, but when this bottle runs out I’ll be trying the new Nutriplenish range. I keep seeing our clients leave the salon with this amazing shiny hair so I can’t wait!
I use all Aveda skin care the serums are amazing, favourite is the Tulasara Firm serum, because as I want that concentrate of anti ageing supercharged into my skin care routine.
What’s Your Top Tip?
Be consistent with your skincare if you want to see the effects, stick to the advice given and guarantied to you’ll see a difference. Also, look at your lifestyle choices… if you are feeling stressed and achey that’s your bodies way of saying look after me. feeding your skin/hair/body with the right treatments, products and nutrition will get you back on track.
How Do You Like to Relax After a Busy Day at the Spa?
My perfect way to relax is with a foot massage and some reflexology all the way! Those pressure points can send you off into such deep relaxation that makes you never want to leave the spa again!
