Quiet and gentle Lisa is passionate about animal welfare, the environment and her job here as therapist Mary Ann Weeks Aveda Guildford Spa, which means plenty of nurturing others! We managed to squeeze in half an hour with Lisa to find out more about what makes her tick and her hopes for the future…
– Tell us about your life outside MAW? e.g.hobbies / family / where are you from?
I’ve just returned from living in France for a couple of years , but previously to that I brought my two boys up in Guildford. Since moving back to the UK I’m now based in Elstead in the countryside, which I absolutely love. Apart from still looking after my sons, I am hugely passionate about improving animal welfare all over the world. I was delighted to hear of Avedas policy to become 100% vegan by 2020! Music to my ears!
– What’s your job title at Mary Ann Weeks Aveda?
I’m an Aveda beauty therapist
– Describe in a few words what you do?
Reflexology, Aveda bespoke massage and facials and other maintenance beauty treatments from hot waxing and lash tinting to Jessica nail manicures and pedicures. My favourite treatment is reflexology though because I love the way that a small amount of pressure placement on a foot can literally change the way the whole body feels!
– How long have you worked with us?
I only joined the company last October, so I’m a relative newbie still!
– What are your favourite things about working with Aveda?
I really love the team I work with and the environment of the venue – especially up in the spa – it’s got a lovely luxury feel but really authentic and chilled out. The smells of all the products are just lovely, the Aveda tea and fruit water on tap and of course all the interesting guests who come in for treatments.
– Whats your best memory of working here?
Not site been here long enough for this one yet but I think my best memory is going to be this Sunday doing the team beach clean on Brighton beach to a silent disco! I’ve always wanted to help out with an environmental cause like this one and I think it’s going to be great fun!
– Whats your ‘go to’ Aveda product and why?
I love the nourishing shampoo/ conditioners and
The beauty products very hard to pic one as I like all of them !
– If you could nominate anyone at MAW Aveda for an award for something what would the award be and who for?
Cathie our Salon manager – she is always so busy, but always makes time for us and is very kind and helpful.
– What do you use on your own skin?
The Aveda Botanical Kinetics range is my absolute go to – I use the Purifying gel cleanser, followed by the toning mist to really clean my skin and finally the intense hydrating soft creme moisturiser. I love that they’re really fresh feeling and are completely plant based products with no animal cruelty.
– What’s your top beauty hack?
I’ve learned that good exfoliation is something that everyone needs to do to get rid of dry skin and debris – it’s a great way to freshen up and then make sure you apply a really good quality moisturiser afterwards. (To learn more about why you should exfoliate read our exfoliation blog here )
– How do you like to relax after a busy day at the spa?
Oh that’s easy! Walking my dogs (fur babies!) to a nice country pub for a pint!
