For this sticky and hot July, we’re delighted to get to know our Aveda colourist and Artist director, Page Cook a little better. Page has been with Mary Ann Weeks Aveda for so long that she is practically a part of the furniture, so if Page doesn’t know it, then it’s probably not worth knowing! Read on find out more about what she gets up to inside and outside of work.
Tell us about your life outside MAW? e.g.hobbies / family / where are you from?
Hello I’m Page. I’m 31 and I live in Byfleet, Surrey with my husband Andy and our beloved dog Phoebe. We have lived in our house for 3.5 years and we always have various house projects going on! We have nearly decorated the whole house and are looking forward to completing the journey with a new kitchen.
I really enjoy decorating and up-cycling old unwanted bits of furniture. With a bit imagination (and trial and error!), it’s very satisfying to give something a new lease of life, as well as having something cool and unique!
My other favourite way to pass the time is in our garden and it turns out I have pretty green fingers! I really enjoy being outside relaxing in my own little sanctuary with the birds singing and bees buzzing around the flowers.
Socialising with friends and family is also important to me and we love to host regular dinner parties, where my husband cooks and I host!
What’s your job title at Mary Ann Weeks Aveda?
What do you use on your own skin?
I use the Aveda Inner Light tinted moisturiser 03 Sweet Tea. I’ve been using this forever, it feels so light on my skin, but gives me just the right amount of coverage and natural colour, it also has SPF15 which is important for keeping my skin protected.
Describe in a few words what you do?
I do all our colour services, blow drys and hair extensions. I’m also on hand to advice on all the Aveda products and to arrange our guests appointments.
How long have you worked with us?
15 years! I joined Mary and Julian from the beginning of MAW Guildford when I was just 16 and fresh out of school! I learnt my trade and completed my full apprenticeship here and haven’t looked back since.
What are your favourite things about working with Aveda?
Aveda products are genuinely amazing products. There are so many, from colour to styling, skin care to make-up, even tea! I just love all of it! They smell beautiful and their natural organic ingredients mean they’re kind to our skin and hair, as well as kind to the planet. I love that they are not tested on animals and so are cruelty free.
Aveda are a wonderful company, they strive to set an example in the beauty industry. From the packaging which is part recycled plastic, the ingredients which are ethnically sourced, to using renewable energy for manufacturing – just a few reasons why Aveda is such a great choice!
Whats your best memory of working here?
My best memory was back in 2010 when we have a summer team building event at an army assault course. We were in such as state at the end of it, having been through under water tunnels, muddy swamps and up and over a 100 type of obstacles! We all had a brilliant time and really gave it everything to try and prove to the drill Sergeants running it, the bunch of hairdressers in front of them weren’t wimps! We showed them, although the next day we could not move!
Whats your ‘go to’ Aveda product and why?
I love the smooth infusion styling cream, it can be used on most hair types, it really nourishes the hair and gives a youthful softness. It protects from heat styling, but is also a lovely product to use when leaving your hair to dry naturally.
If you could nominate anyone at MAW Aveda for an award for something what would the award be and who for?
Crina! She is an amazing beauty therapist and an all-round team great team member. She is never too busy to advise or help out and nothing is to much trouble, she is extremely talented at all the treatments she does and take pride in her work. She is a perfectionist and strives to make everyone she comes into contact with feel special .
What’s your top beauty hack?
Silk Pillow Case!! – Not only is to great for you skin – anti ageing and hypoallergenic, it’s also amazing for your hair. Sleeping on a silk pillow case reduced the friction on your hair which often cause damage, keep you styled hair smooth for longer and say goodbye to bed head!
How do you like to relax after a busy day at the spa?
In this heat, I’ve been getting straight out into my garden with a glass of wine and talk over my day with my husband and then a late night walk with our pooch!
